There is a graded programme of ensembles available, all directed and staffed by Havering Music School teachers. The groups provide performance opportunities for BRASS, STRING, WOODWIND, PERCUSSION and SINGERS of all abilities. Anyone can apply to join a group as soon as their teacher feels they are ready. They will begin with the appropriate junior ensemble and over a number of years, progress through to the senior bands, choirs and orchestras.
Ensembles meet together weekly and perform in concerts at the end of each term. Concerts take place in local venues and every two years, some of the groups are invited to perform in our showcase concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London.
Most groups can take new players at any time, though for some of the more senior groups, auditions are sometimes necessary. Pupils can usually attend a ‘taster session’ before committing to membership. All groups place great emphasis on enjoying music together and everyone is made to feel welcome
